MSA Event Registration: Free RSVPs, Paid Banquets and Approval Lists

MSA boards change every year and the registration knowledge leaves with them. This is the setup that a new board can run on day one.

Socials and halaqas: free RSVP with a cap

A free ticket type with a capacity gives you a headcount, a waitlist when the room is full, and an automatic email to the next person when someone drops. Nobody needs an account to RSVP.

Banquets: student vs guest pricing

Two ticket types, different prices, one page. Use a coupon for early registrations and a hard registration deadline that the platform enforces - caterers need the number by a date, not a wish.

Approval-required events

For closed events, turn on approval: registrations queue for the board, approved attendees get their QR, declined ones get a polite email. Nobody holds a spot they were not approved for.

Hand-over

Add next year's board as team members with roles, not by sharing a password. When they take over, the events, the attendee history and the Stripe connection stay with the organization.

Questions

Do attendees need an account to register?

No. Guest checkout is the default; 88% of tickets on Ummah Unite are bought without creating an account.

Can we require approval for some events only?

Yes, per event.
