Selling Tickets for Gender-Segregated Events: Sections, Capacity and Check-in

Most ticketing platforms make you fake segregated seating with coupon codes or two separate events. It should be a ticket option. Here is the clean setup.

One event, sectioned tickets

Create "Brothers section", "Sisters section" and "Family section" as ticket types with their own capacity and price. The attendee picks the section; your capacity math stays honest.

Doors

Scan by ticket type: the sisters' entrance scans only sisters' and family tickets. The scanner shows the section on screen. Refunded or cancelled tickets are rejected automatically.

Selling out one section

When the brothers' section sells out, the sisters' section keeps selling and a waitlist opens for the full one. If a refund frees a seat, the next person on the waitlist is emailed an offer with a time limit.

Questions

Can a family ticket cover both sections?

Yes - make "Family section" its own ticket type with the seating you have.

Does this work for free events?

Yes; free sectioned tickets carry no fee.
