Switching from Eventbrite: What It Costs, How Long It Takes, and What Moves (2026)

Organizers ask the same four questions before leaving Eventbrite: what will it cost, how long will it take, what comes with us, and what happens at the door. Here are the plain answers, including the parts that do not move.

What it costs

Nothing on either side. Eventbrite does not charge an exit fee, and exporting your attendee report is free from the Orders or Attendees pages. Ummah Unite has no subscription, no plan tiers and no setup fee, so recreating the event costs $0.

The ongoing cost changes. Eventbrite charges organizers 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket plus 2.9% payment processing (figures from its US pricing page, checked October 2026). On Ummah Unite a paid ticket carries $1 + 2.5%, shown to the attendee at checkout, plus card processing; the organizer banks the face value. Free events are free on both.

Money also moves differently. Eventbrite pays out after the event on its schedule. Ummah Unite settles each sale to the organization's own Stripe account at the moment of sale.

How long it takes

One event, by hand: about 30 minutes. Paste the Eventbrite link into the import tool and the title, date, venue, description, image and ticket tiers are read into a draft; or upload the flyer and the same fields are read off it. Add remaining quantities, connect Stripe (or create an account in a few minutes), publish.

Several events: paste an Eventbrite private token on the import page and up to 25 of your events arrive as drafts in one go. The token is used for that one request and never stored. Ticket Tailor works the same way with an API key; Zeffy, TicketSpice, MeetPure and anything that exports a spreadsheet work through a CSV upload.

Nothing goes public until you review the draft and publish it, so the move can happen a week ahead of the link switch.

What moves with you

Event details: title, dates, venue, description, cover image, ticket tiers and prices. These import or re-enter in minutes.

Attendee list: export it from Eventbrite as a CSV. Keep it for check-in (below) and for your own records. There is no one-click attendee import yet; for most events that is fine, because tickets already sold stay valid on Eventbrite. If you want everyone inside one scanner, add existing holders as complimentary attendees from the check-in page (practical for a few dozen) or ask the Ummah Unite team to load a larger list before event day.

Your audience: the link in your Instagram bio, WhatsApp broadcast and email footer changes once. Attendees never install an app; the new event is a web page.

What stays behind

Eventbrite email automations and Boost campaigns are Eventbrite products; they do not export. On Ummah Unite, announcements go to followers and past attendees from the dashboard, and reminder emails to ticket holders are built in, so most organizers replace a two-step automation with one announcement.

Scan history from the Eventbrite Organizer app stays in Eventbrite. Export the attendee report with check-in status before the account goes quiet if you need it for records.

Eventbrite's discovery audience stays with Eventbrite. Ummah Unite lists your event on its own discovery pages, built from organizers on the platform, where Muslims browse events by state.

The door on event day

No handheld hardware. QR check-in runs on any phone or laptop, on as many devices as you have volunteers, with double-scan protection and a live headcount. Walk-ups paying cash or arriving on a complimentary spot are added from the same check-in page, and they get a real ticket on the spot.

If you moved mid-sale, the door runs two lists for one event: Eventbrite tickets are checked from the export (a PDF or a phone), new tickets are scanned. One table, two lists, no confusion as long as the volunteers know which is which.

Large events and mid-campaign moves

The mechanics do not change with size. Ummah Unite runs events from a weekly halaqa to a 1,000-seat summit on the same checkout, and Stripe handles the payment volume. For a move during an active campaign, the sequence that keeps buyers calm is: publish the new page, point every link at it, set the Eventbrite listing to "sales ended" with a note, and keep both lists at the door.

Sold-out tiers do not need recreating. Only tiers with remaining quantity go on the new page, at the remaining quantity, so the total never exceeds the room.

Questions

How long does it take to move an event from Eventbrite?

About 30 minutes for one event: paste the Eventbrite link or upload the flyer, review the draft, add remaining quantities, connect Stripe, publish. Up to 25 events import as drafts at once from an Eventbrite private token.

What does it cost to migrate from Eventbrite to a new ticketing platform?

Nothing. Eventbrite has no exit fee and its attendee export is free. Ummah Unite has no subscription, plan or setup fee. The ongoing cost drops from 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket plus 2.9% processing to $1 + 2.5% shown to the attendee, plus card processing.

Can I move attendees who already bought tickets?

Their Eventbrite tickets stay valid, so nobody buys again. Export the attendee list and check them in from it, add them as complimentary attendees for one scanner, or ask the Ummah Unite team to load a larger list.

Do Eventbrite email automations move?

No. They are Eventbrite products. Ummah Unite sends announcements to followers and past attendees from the dashboard and reminder emails to ticket holders automatically.

Does check-in or scan history move?

No. Export the attendee report with check-in status from Eventbrite for your records. New check-ins happen on Ummah Unite from any phone.

Do I need handheld scanners?

No. Check-in runs on any phone or laptop, on unlimited devices, with double-scan protection and a live headcount.

Can a large event move mid-campaign?

Yes. Publish the new page, switch every link, mark the Eventbrite listing as sales ended, and run both lists at the door. Only tiers with remaining quantity go on the new page.
